Theme: Oceanium. Staff talk in the EAUditorium. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the Shark Hall (Haaienzaal) and the filter rooms
Theme: Elephants and rhinoceroses. A talk by the zookeepers at the elephant and black rhinoceros enclosures. A behind-the-scenes look at the hay shed and the food warehouse.
Theme: Predators. A talk by the zookeepers at the lions and the tiger exhibits. A behind-the-scenes look at the Komodo dragon in the Rivièra Hall and take a peak at the food warehouse.
Theme: Birds. A talk by the zookeepers about vultures and the crested pelicans. A behind-the-scenes look at the grey parrot and the tropical greenhouses.
Theme: Grazers. A zookeeper’s talk about the geladas and zebras. A behind-the-scenes look at the bison and geladas.
During the Summer Evenings, you can once again enjoy the popular keeper talks. Each evening features a different group of animals, and the zookeepers will share more about these animals’ lives, behavior, diet, and natural habitats. You might even get lucky and see a feeding session up close! Come watch, listen, and discover fascinating facts about your favorite animals. Check the times and locations in the Blijdorp app.
During the ZOOmmer Evenings, take an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. Our volunteers will take you to special places you wouldn’t normally get to see, such as the elephant barn or the zebra stable. Since only a limited number of visitors can enter at a time, you may have to wait a bit. But trust us: the behind-the-scenes tour is definitely worth it! They take place every ZOOmmer Evening between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Check the Blijdorp app for the locations each evening.
Join us on a creative and interactive walk through the park and discover what drawing animals is all about. Along the way, you’ll be guided by artists who will share their tips and tricks on drawing techniques, help you with your sketches, and encourage you to develop your own style. Every Saturday in August, you can develop your drawing skills. Sign up now for just €2.50.
